Planet Ark and Toyota’s Dealer network have been working with young Australians in schools and local communities to get them supporting last Friday’s Schools Tree Day and Sunday’s National Tree Day. Both are a call to action for Australians to give back to their community and our planet by planting one million new native trees and shrubs across the country.
Since its inception in 1993, National Tree Day has grown to be Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event. It’s a day that allows Australians to come together, roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty for the environment. Planting trees and shrubs is a fun, simple and effective way to help enrich our earth and protect nature’s wildlife.
In June, Gemba conducted a bespoke piece of market research aimed at uncovering insights on Australians’ attitudes on environmental sustainability. Our research found that 50.5% of Australians are passionate about environmental sustainability. Younger Australians care the most about this issue, with 16-24 year olds the most likely age group to take action when it comes to the environment.
The Gemba team have been instrumental in bringing to life Toyota’s National Tree Day campaign this year. This included creating a suite of social and digital assets for Toyota Dealers to utilise in spreading the word about the events in their local communities. We helped pair over 215 Toyota dealers nation-wide with local planting sites, schools and communities, ensuring more people than ever before were doing their part for a greener future.
