York Park Master Plan
Project Overview
Gemba was engaged by the City of Launceston to prepare a Master Plan for York Park, Tasmania’s largest sport and entertainment venue. York Park hosts both sport and entertainment events, and is the Tasmanian home of the Hawthorn Football Club. The primary objective of the Master Plan was to provide the City of Launceston with options for the development of the venue over the next 10 to 15 years.
Execution
At the outset of the Master Planning process, the Project Steering Group established a vision and strategic objectives for the venue to guide the development of the Master Plan. Key stakeholders were engaged to identify facility needs and gaps in existing facility provision, providing valuable input into the future strategic direction. All development options available to the City of Launceston were assessed against agreed criteria to arrive at recommendations, including development priorities, staging, cost and implementation.
Results
The Master Plan process provided the City of Launceston with a clear understanding of the opportunities and future development priorities for York Park. It has set the strategic direction for planning and development of York Park in the short and long term.
