Project Snapshot

Gemba was challenged to bring to life the HISTORY CHANNEL’S tagline “HISTORY Made Every Day” via Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty TV series. We needed to develop an event plan that would engage locals at each stop on the production tour in Launceston, Ballarat, Dunedin, Auckland, Hahndorf, Bathurst, Newcastle, Toowoomba, Darwin and Fremantle.

Gemba created ‘The Tour of Duty Community Days’, which dazzled locals by involving them in their own rich history through carefully integrated activities. From behind the scenes experiences around the filming of the show, to preparing ‘time capsules’, through to exclusive meet & greets with Sir Tony Robinson. All while engaging with original local historical displays, as expert historians valued their local artefacts.

The community days were an extremely successful extension to the TV content, delivering authentic character and insight for Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty series.
